The Bishop's Leadership Society was established in 2004 to recognize those people who support Diocesan ministries through significant annual gifts to the Diocesan Development Drive. These gifts ensure the Catholic Church in Utah continues to care for the pastoral needs of families, their children, and the many others who seek our help through Diocesan ministries, programs and services. The theme of the Bishop's Leadership Society is, "Abide in Christ."È

Dear Faithful of the Diocese,
Inspired by the words of Jesus and guided by our Holy Father Pope Francis, the theme chosen for the 2017 Diocesan Development Drive (DDD) is from the Gospel of Saint Matthew: For the Son of Man came to serve and not to be served.
Pope Francis speaks of his longing for a Church for the poor. This phrase points toward a Church with a mandate to serve – serving God and serving the people of God. So Jesus clearly articulated his mission: “For the Son of Man came to serve and not to be served”. (Matthew 20:28). That too is the challenge for us, the faithful.
This mission, of course, means service in meeting the many human needs of the community. Through the DDD we have the opportunity and challenge to offer service through a variety of ministries throughout the Diocese. These ministries provide religious education, formation for future priests and deacons, support for rural missions, assistance for the most vulnerable, support for the many needs determined by our bishop and much more.
As you know, these vital ministries are beyond the capability of any individual parish and have a profound impact on the Diocese and generate a positive Christian witness to the broader community. Since its beginning, the Diocesan Development Drive has expanded our ministries, our facilities and presence throughout the state. Through the DDD we have witnessed that as Christians we are committed to the service inspired by Jesus and encouraged by our Holy Father Pope Francis.
Please join me by generously supporting the 2017 Diocesan Development Drive, For the Son of Man came to serve and not to be served. Your gift will make a difference and with your gift we can fulfill our mission to serve.
